If you didn’t ask, you would never guess this mother of triplet
boys has just created the nation’s best and largest children’s
sports activity center. The best part is that it’s located in
the Dallas-Fort Worth area!
The new business is called the 280 Sports Center, located at 280 Commerce St. in Southlake, TX. It’s 100,000 square feet of fun for kids and parents alike. According to the designer, Christie Abercrombie, the center includes the best of the best programs. Kids will find swimming, cheerleading, martial arts, a place to bounce and have birthday parties and Raceline Motor Works-a place where “kids” build and race special RC cars.
Parents will love it because it also includes something for every child. With programs running simultaneously, every child can have an activity at the same place at the same time. There is even something for parents: The 280 Café creates the best lattes around, snacks for the kids, and Mom can even get something to take home for dinner! If that’s not enough, how about getting your nails done while you watch the kids play or train, or do some shopping at the boutique stores?
Christie has overseen every detail of the 280 Sports center. A self-described “gym rat”, Christie grew up in gyms in Southern California, and has visited most of the best gyms in the US and traveled to many foreign countries. Not exactly the kind of thing that most gym owners have done. Are you getting the idea that Christie knows her stuff about gym’s?
There’s more. Christie’s mom started her in ballet at the age of 4. She always told her, “I don’t want you to be a ballerina, but I want you to learn about your body and dance. It’s fun, and you never know where it will lead you.” At age 11, dance lead to gymnastics. Her gracefulness and body placement she learned as a dancer, served her well, and she won the State All-Around Competition in gymnastics for her level. Soon, her height became a hindrance, and she discovered trampoline. Her gymnastics background helped her earn a spot on the United States Trampoline Team, where she traveled to competitions all over the world, winning the North American Cup.
Christie’s parents never allowed the gym activities to become her first priority. Her school had to come first. Christie went to high school, worked afternoons, summers and most weekends in the family nursery to earn money for competitions and extra training. The Olympics was Christie’s goal, but first, Trampoline had to become an Olympic sport.
Christie earned a BS Degree in International Business and a Law Degree from Chapman University Law School. She served as a Board Member of USA Gymnastics and was instrumental in getting Trampoline and her team member Jennifer Parilla into the Olympics. After graduating from Law School, Christie became a stuntwoman, appearing in many movies, TV shows and commercials. There, she met her husband. When the Screen Actors guild went on strike, Christie fell back on what she knows best: Creating fun for kids, and her first sports complex, in Chatsworth, CA.
280 Sports is the third and by far the best Children’s Activity Center in Christie’s portfolio and the nation! For more information on 280 Sports, visit their web at www.280Sports.comFor more information, contact The Leasing Agent
